Are we building this thing right?

During the prototyping phase of gov.si portal, the single digital entry point for the Slovenian public administration, we prepared and executed 15 usability testing sessions to test the relevance of the content and adequacy of core functionalities for selected end user groups.

How can we ensure better absorption of EU funds?

We facilitated the preparation of content for the Operational Program of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, where we supported the Directorate of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs in actively involving various stakeholders and identifying their needs.

How can we deliver an immersive online learning experience?

In the wake of our summer Service Design Thinking training dates and COVID 19 restrictions, we were looking to find out how we can redesign our training sessions to fit the needs of participants and meet technology restrictions of the Ministry, so we could deliver an immersive online learning experience.

We’ve worked with

We have prepared a short booklet* where you will find an overview of the design thinking mindset, process and a selection of methods and tools. *Only in Slovenian for now.

    How we work?

First we get to know you and explore your problem, organisational context, and the needs of everyone affected by your problem.
In accordance with your goals and the needs of stakeholders, we prepare a design brief. We ensure everyone involved has a shared understanding of the project.
With you, we research, co-create and develop a set of solutions, test and upgrade them until they correspond to the defined goals in the brief.
We prepare an implementation plan for the selected solution, embed it in your existing processes and monitor its success.

How might the new long-term care policy work in practice?

“In times of rapid change and complex societal challenges, we need different, more innovative methods of work, and above all more cooperation and collaboration of different stakeholders to improve the quality of citizens’ life. With user-oriented public services we can provide a quality experience for all. Our first test of the service design approach for public services was done by organising a Policy Jam focusing on long-term care in Slovenia.”

Timotej Šooš, initiator of the project

    Who we are?

Service 8 was established in 2014 with the aim of raising awareness, educating and making things happen in the field of service design in Slovenia.

We specialize in education and training in service design thinking and facilitation of co-creative processes, we have extensive experience in consulting for product and service development and we offer custom design and user research.

We are proud that, as the initiators of Ljubljana Service Jams, we are the pioneers of Service Design in Slovenia and that we carried out the first Policy Jam for co-creating policies in Slovenia.

Our yearly reports are accessible here (Slovenian only).

We’re proud to have contributed to This Is Service Design Doing.
